Description
Join us on the historic Fort Knox Military Reservation for the first running of the Fort Knox Christmas in July 5K/10K. Enjoy a 5K (3.1 miles) or 10K (6.2 miles) run or walk across the beautiful, rolling hills of this famous military installation.
Proceeds from the race support the Fort Knox American Red Cross' Santa's Workshop and Candy Cane Lane holiday gift programs for service members, veterans, and their families on Fort Knox and the surrounding region.

*Children 9 and under can run for free, but will not receive a t-shirt or finishers medal without a paid registration.

Event Swag
All race participants that register by July 10th will receive a fun race t-shirt with their paid registration*. After this date, t-shirts will not be available.
All race participants will receive a unique finisher medal upon crossing the finish line.
*Children 9 and under running for free will not receive a t-shirt without a paid registration.

Event Directions
You must have a valid DoD ID or visitor pass to enter Fort Knox. Please see the Special Information section below for more information.
Chaffee Gate (Bullion Blvd) will be the only Fort Knox access gate open on race day; all other gates will be closed.
Event signs will be posted on Fort Knox directing you to the event parking.
From Elizabethtown:
Take 31W North to the Bullion Blvd Exit, pass the Fort Knox Gold Vault and proceed through Chaffee Gate onto Fort Knox. Turn right at the first light onto Spearhead Division Rd. Turn right at the first street past the train overpass onto Knox St., then follow the curve onto Maxwell St. Go straight at the 4-way stop, and event parking will be located on your right, with overflow parking located at the Commissary and Class Six parking lots.
From Louisville:
Take 31W South to the Bullion Blvd Exit, turn right at the stop onto Bullion Blvd, then follow the same direction as above.

Race Packet may also be picked up on race morning from 6:30am to 8:15am at the Fort Knox Post Exchange.
You must present a valid federal or state-issued ID to pick up your packet. You may pick up other participants packets with a copy of their ID or race registration confirmation.
Special Information
Fort Knox Access Information
This event is located on Fort Knox, a U.S. military installation. All persons entering Fort Knox are subject to all applicable federal laws, as well as all Department of Defense and U.S. Army rules and regulations. All persons entering Fort Knox consent to a search of their person or property when entering or while on the installation.
Due to enhanced security measures, all visitors must possess a valid Department of Defense (DoD) Identification Card or visitor pass issued by the Fort Knox Visitor Center in order to access the installation. All persons without a valid DoD ID card or visitor pass may acquire a visitor pass using one of the methods below:
1) Online: Visit https://visit.gvt.us/steps/branch_selection and follow the on-screen instructions. (Note: This pass can only be requested a maximum of 30 days in advance.)
2) In-Person: Visit the Fort Knox Visitors Center, 17 Bullion Blvd, Fort Knox, KY 40121, and present a valid federal or state-issued ID.
Please note that obtaining a visitor pass may take a few minutes, so please plan accordingly to ensure you do not miss the race start time.
Fort Knox security personnel reserve the right to refuse or revoke access to the installation to anyone at any time for any reason, and NO REFUNDS will be provided to any race participant whose access is denied or revoked. In accordance with federal laws and Army regulations, the carrying of concealed firearms on Fort Knox is STRICTLY PROHIBITED and state-issued concealed weapons permits are not recognized or honored. All firearms must be declared to the gate security personnel when entering Fort Knox, and firearms not registered with the Fort Knox Weapons Registration Office are NOT permitted to be brought onto Fort Knox. COVID-19 Policy
All participants must comply with DoD and Fort Knox COVID-19 policies while on Fort Knox. These policies include:
- Fully vaccinated participants and spectators do not have to wear a mask/facial covering while on Fort Knox or participating in this event.
- Non-vaccinated participants (including those that have not received their second dose of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccines) must wear a mask/facial covering and observe social distancing while on Fort Knox and while participating in this event.
- You may be asked to provide proof of vaccination to enter certain facilities on Fort Knox. It is highly recommended that you have either your COVID-19 vaccination card or a photograph of your card on your phone in case you are asked to present proof; failure to present proof may result in you being denied access to the facility.
Event Rules and Disqualifications
All participants must maintain their race bibs on their front, outermost garment throughout the race while participating in the race. All participants must follow the marked race course and instructions from event personnel at all times during the event. Anyone who deviates from the course for any reason, receives assistance that would give them an unfair advantage over other racers, fails to follow instructions from race personnel, or fails to follow race guidelines, will be disqualified from the race. NO REFUNDS will be provided to any disqualified participant.
Open Road Notice
This is an open-course road race, and participants may share the course with both vehicles and non-participants throughout the event. Road/crossing guards will be located along the course to assist, but participants should always be observant of their surroundings and ensure they are aware of any vehicles, people, animals, or obstacles that may cause injury. Participants should always keep as far to the right as possible while running, use caution when passing other participants, and obey the directions of any road/crossing guards, race officials, police, or emergency personnel.
Audio and Video Device Policy
Personal audio and video devices (including headphones, personal speakers, photographic and video recording devices) may be used while on the course, but the use of these devices while on the course is highly discouraged. Participants should be observant of their surroundings at all times and ensure they are aware of any vehicles, people, animals, or obstacles that may cause injury. Participants should ensure they can clearly see and hear each other at all times during the race, as well as see and hear race officials or volunteers, police or emergency personnel, vehicles, or any other sounds or potential hazards near them. Participants may be disqualified from the race for failing to follow these guidelines.
Animal Policy
This race is a canine-friendly event, and participants may run or walk with their dogs; no other animals are permitted on the course. For the safety of both the animals and people, all dogs must be leashed and owners must maintain control at all times during the event. Owners must ensure their pet is physically able to safely participate, and assume full responsibility for their care and behavior during the event. Owners may be disqualified from the race if their pet behaves in an unsafe or dangerous manner, interferes with other participants ability to complete the race, or they are otherwise unable to maintain control of it.
Inclement Weather Policy
This event will take place rain or shine. However, in the event of lightning or other severe inclement weather, the race may be delayed or canceled. NO REFUNDS will be provided if the event is canceled due to weather.
Alcohol Policy
Participants must be 21 years or older and present a valid federal or state-issued ID to participate in any alcohol tasting or giveaway events. Participants are limited to one (1) free drink per person, while supplies last. Please drink responsibly at all times.
